Fireproof plywood / MDF NRO
Wood-based panels are a common solution in construction and finishing works. They guarantee safety as they are flame-retardant. Because they heat up slowly and do not emit smoke, they are less likely to be affected by the destructive force of fire. Due to their qualities and price, fireproof panels are often used instead of plaster or steel. Moreover, they are more convenient to use since they are lighter. It is worth mentioning that the level of fire resistance can be increased by additional surface protection with suitable preparations.
The NRO (fire rating, materials with no or very limited contribution to fire) is a requirement for the building and companies, so basically it is used to show the fire resistance and whether a material is safe in contact with fire. There are symbols in the fire rating classification:
s2/s3- the product produces intense smoke during a fire
D2- The material produces burning drops and wastes during a fire.
b-S1, d0 – a flame-retardant material that does not generate smoke or dangerous wastes.
Wood-based panels perform very well according to the NRO rating, which makes them a safe product that can be successfully used in homes or public areas.
Fire-resistant MDF boards are made from compressed fibers which are enriched by flame-retardant additives. They are manufactured for demanding requirements, where fire resistance is important for the entire structure.
Fire-resistant chipboard is an example of a wood-based board. Its distinctive feature is that it has special properties that protect its surface against the spread of fire. It is frequently used in the finishing and construction industry.
